THE INSIDE PITCH FACEBOOK GROUP – MIDNIGHT.

Tension builds in The Inside Pitch Facebook group, expertly managed and run by WME story editor Christopher Lockhart. The results are coming in for the annual logline/ pitch competition, which has attracted over 750 submissions from screenwriters across the globe. And the winner is… Coming to Bits by Savannah Morgan with 105 votes. Second place: 38 votes. I was shocked.

My first pitch ever won the popular vote by a landslide, despite very worthy competitors. Me – who heretofore looked at pitching the way Indiana Jones looks at snakes. My logline, for the curious:

When a government recycling experiment unleashes a plague of plastic-devouring bacteria, a spoiled 7-year-old battles to stop it before it reaches her toys. My pitch made it to the top 10, then the top 5. We then squared off in a 3-minute virtual video pitch. So what did I learn about the pitching process, and more importantly how did I not throw up on camera?
